A mare and a foal have been left to rot in an open field causing distress to residents and passers-by.
The bodies were first discovered in a field by the Grove Lane bridle path north of Woodmansterne last week.
It is understood that the mare died giving birth to the foal and that their bodies had been left to rot since Monday, July 20.
Other horses and foals continue to graze in the field next to the bodies.
Last year in May a dead horse was left for days in the same field.
Residents have described how foxes and birds have started to eat the remains of the two horses.
Sutton Council is aware of the situation and attempting to contact the owner of the field to have the carcasses removed.
