A woman is understood to have stabbed herself in the stomach triggering police, land and air ambulance crews to descend on Corbet Close in Hackbridge, today.

Officers from Sutton police were alerted to the situation by the London Ambulance Service at 3.15pm, on Wednesday, April 22.

Once at the 30-year-old's home emergency crews found the woman, who had called 999 herself, and alerted police for their own protection.

A spokesman for Sutton police said: "The woman is being attended to by LAS and is expected to be taken to hospital by ambulance over land shortly.

"Police are in attendance.

"The woman was the only person in the property at the time."
