A suspected armed robber raided a Carshalton restaurant after brandishing a gun before fleeing with cash from the till.
The gunman struck at the Al Verde restaurant in Green Wrythe Lane, near the junction of Wrythe Green Road on Sunday, at about 10.25pm.
A spokesman for the police said: “A male staff member was approached inside the restaurant by a suspect who demanded money.
“He was forced to the till where there were two other members of staff.
“The suspect showed a handgun before leaving with cash from the till in a Sports Direct carrier bag.
“No shots were fired.”
The suspect is described as black, aged about 20, 5ft 6in and of medium build.
He has short black hair and stubble on his face and wore a black hooded top with a hole in the right sleeve.
He may have had teeth that stick out, police said.
