A young man stabbed in the chest and attacked with a baseball bat in the town centre remains in a critical condition.

The man, aged 22, was found by police with stab wounds to the chest and leg by police at 3.20am Saturday in Mulgrave Road by Brighton Road.

He had also been attacked with a baseball bat, and was taken to a south London hospital where he remains.

Three men, aged 21, 22 and 24 have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and been given police bail until early May.

Detective Constable Rachelle Hubbard, of Sutton CID, who is leading the investigation, said this was a vicious assault and appealed for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
