Squirrels have been shot dead and a fox has been injured in a spate of attacks near Grange Road in Sutton.

The latest shooting happened on Sunday, January 25, when a squirrel was found dead with a pellet wound.

Sutton police are now hunting for the gunman, and haved upped their patrols around the Banbury Court area in Grange Road to help track them down.

A baby squirrel had to be put down at a wildlife centre after taking a pellet, and a fox was also seen limping away after being shot in the leg.

PC Heath Keogh, wildlife officer at Sutton Police station, said it appears someone with an air gun is using squirrels for target practice.
