Rail Minister Claire Perry passed through Sutton last week, as prospective MP Paul Scully drummed up support for his transport plans.
The Conservative candidate for Sutton and Cheam is pushing for Worcester Park station to feature on the proposed Crossrail 2 route, which will link stations in south west and north east London, as well as parts of Surrey and Hertfordshire.
It is yet to be confirmed which stops will feature on the route.
Mr Scully is also keen to extend the London Overground route to Sutton from West Croydon.
He said: "If Crossrail 2 comes past Worcester Park station then it should stop there rather than Motspur Park. The platform at this station is rammed at peak times.
"Extending the London Overground to Sutton from West Croydon will help commuters to both Croydon, the Docklands and East London."
Ms Perry, who is the MP for Devizes in Wiltshire, visited on Thursday, November 20.
She said: "We have spoken to local business owners and members of the public, and they are say more people are coming into Worcester Park and Sutton.
"The station in Worcester Park gets busy, so it makes sense for it to feature on the proposed Crossrail 2 route."
