One of the local MPs added the final touches to the latest stage of a grand college construction project.
Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake added the final shovel of concrete to Carshalton College's new technology, engineering and construction (TEC) centre during a topping out ceremony last week.
Mr Brake said: "This is yet another fantastic development for the College and their students, providing new workshops, classrooms and state of the art renewable technology – a real gem."
Catering students treated guests to an impressive celebratory cake in the shape of the new building.
The building is part of a a plan to consolidate the construction, engineering and motor vehicle curriculum areas into a single location at the college.
Janet Smith, headteacher at Carshalton College, said: "Our goal is to achieve a positive, inspiring and sustainable environment for our students to learn in, using high quality, industry standard technology. This will be a fantastic facility for students, staff and employers alike".
