This was the scene as on-lookers gathered at the latest car crash on a notorious junction in Morden.

The emergency services were called to the junction of St Helier Avenue and Middleton Road yesterday evening after two cars collided with each other at the traffic lights.

The road was blocked while police officers and ambulance crews dealt with the incident.

Despite extensive damage to the front of a silver Honda Civic nobody was seriously hurt in the incident just after 7pm on Sunday, July 20.

The other car involved was a silver Toyota Rav4.

A man in his twenties was checked at the scene by paramedics but a spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said he did not require medical assistance and nobody was taken to hospital.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said they were called at 7.10pm to reports of a road traffic collision.

The spokesman added the drivers exchanged names and addresses for insurance purposes and police left the scene at 8.21pm.

It is the latest incident on that stretch of road.

A car flipped over at the same junction on Tuesday, June 3, weeks after a collision on Tuesday, May 13 this year.

Transport for London said it would carry out a study of the junction after a complaint to them following the incident in June.
