A woman from Worcester Park made sure we do not forget the animals of war.

Mags Johnson, 46, is the manager of Alan Greenwood and Sons funeral directors in London Road, North Cheam.

This is the third time Ms Johnson decided to put up the display in the business' window, however, this time she decided to honour those who cannot tell their stories.

The window display tells tales of heroic spaniels, loyal horses and cats who got rid of rats on warships.

Ms Johnson, who has volunteered at Battersea Dogs and Cats home for seven years, said: "It’s a good community thing - the locals come in and bring in their bits and pieces. They like to see the display.

"The school kids - when they go by - have a look.

"I get people coming in saying it’s nice to see."

A florist in Worcester Park made a horse shoe shaped arrangement for Ms Johnson’s display and she also has a replica newspaper from September 4, 1939, the day after war was declared.
