Edirin Manovwe, 30, of Poplar Road, Herne Hill, pleaded guilty to 13 counts of benefit fraud at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Manovwe was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended over two years, in respect of each charge.

He was ordered to pay a £500 contribution to costs and a community order, requiring 100 hours of unpaid work, was imposed.

And another fraudster walks out of court free. What sort of deterrent is that?

What this story fails to say is he is still receiving housing benefit and that the court has decide to deduct £20.25 per week from it, to pay the £24,000 he stole from taxpayers. Therefore we are paying him, to pay us back over a ... wait for it .. 23 year period. Anyway glad to see that he is going to uni as he'll go far with a conviction for fraud.
