Car crashes into tree in Streatham High Road

This was the scene in Streatham High Road yesterday after a man in his 60s, suspected of falling asleep at the wheel, ploughed in to a tree in the central reservation.

Police said the incident took place at 10.57am near the junction with Gracefield Gardens.

The man was interviewed by police on suspicion of driving without a licence and valid insurance, and driving without due care and attention.

Police will later decide whether to charge him.

No one was hurt in the incident.
