The tragic death of six people in a fire in a block of flats in Camberwell has sparked a review in to safety in Lambeth Council properties.

Council officers will carry out a fire risk assessment and inspection of all council properties.

Letters will also be sent to all tenants and leaseholders to advise them what to do in case of fire.

Cabinet member for housing and regeneration, Councillor Lib Peck, said: “Clearly there needs to be an inquiry. Lambeth is committed to learning the lessons from the safety issues concerning this fire.”
