The latest cyber communications technology is helping Lambeth Council save money and improve services, the local authority claims.

It says it has risen to the challenge of 21st century technology by switching to a single network for the council’s phones and computers, saving £550,000 annually.

The technology, which Lambeth is one of the first London councils to use, means staff can log in at most telephones or computers across the council’s buildings in order to access their voicemail or emails allowing for more flexible and remote working.

The council also claims costs have already dropped by 20 per cent.
