A scooter rider in her 30s was taken to hospital for pelvic injuries after she was hit by a car.

The crash, near Streatham Station, happened at the junction between Mitcham Lane and Ambleside Avenue on Sunday morning.

We have gone to the Metropolitan Police Service for comment.

A witness, who was in a car behind the woman when she was hit, said she was struck in the side by a VW Golf travelling along Mitcham Lane.

The woman was on Ambleside Road, turning left into Mitcham Lane, when the crash happened. She was sent over the top of the car and landed on the other side of the junction.

The witness got out of his car to help her and said: “She was very shocked. She felt like she was bleeding inside. We were just trying to make sure she wasn’t moving. Someone went to get a blanket from across the road.

"I stayed with the lady until the ambulance arrived, but she was complaining of severe hip and back pain and was worried that she was bleeding inside. I've tried to get in touch with the police to find out more, but nothing yet."

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.25am to Ambleside Gardens to reports of a road traffic collision.

"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and treated a woman reported to be in his 30s for pelvic injuries. She was taken as a priority to St George’s hospital, Tooting.”

A female pedestrian, in her early 60s, died after she was hit by a bus at the same junction, in November, last year.
