Bus drivers have begun a 24-hour strike over pay from 4am disrupting journeys across London until the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Union Unite accuse bus companies of 'burying their heads in the sand' over 'unfair' pay disparities between 18 bus companies in the area.
Wayne King, London regional officer for Unite, said: “Passengers pay one fare to travel on London’s iconic red buses, yet there are over 80 different pay rates covering bus workers, many doing the same job or driving the same route but for different rates of pay."
Transport for London say the agreement should be between workers and the individual bus companies.
