A five-year-old little girl made a big decision to cut off her hair for children who have lost theirs through cancer treatment.
Alessandra Shohet, from Clapham, raised over £1,000 for the Little Princess Trust by chopping off ten inches on Thursday, July 3.
Rapunzel: Alessandra wanted to help children who had lost their hair
Her hair, which was cut for free by staff in Edward James, Northcote Road, will be used by the charity which makes real-hair wigs for children suffering with cancer.
Mum Carla said she was bursting with pride and praised Alessandra's school, Honeywell Primary School, who had been supporting her.
Mrs Shohet, a weightloss consultant, said: “About a month ago we were chatting about why children lose their hair. We were having a chat about how cancer treatment can make your hair fall out.
“We lost a cat who had a tumour and more recently her grandma.
“A few days later, on waking up, she announced she wanted to give her hair to sick children.
“She said 'I want to give them my hair so they can play hairdresser like me and be happy again'.
“Up to this point, she had fiercely fought to keep her Rapunzel hair despite the tears and pain of daily brushing.”
