One hundred businesses have been shortlisted for this year's South London Business Awards.

Now in its fifth year, the awards welcomed entries from all 12 South London Boroughs across six categories - including best small business, best business for customer service, best green business and best overall business.

Hundreds entered the competition and a panel of independent judges have now narrowed down their search to just 100.

The awards will culminate with an awards ceremony and gala dinner on July 5 at the Riverbank Plaza in Vauxhall.

Neil Young, director of property company Young London which won last year’s overall prize said: "When you’ve won an award and you go into work the next day and tell people - the feedback you get and the pride that people have - you know that they will tell people.

"That is a value in itself and that really makes it worthwhile."

Peter Pledger, chief executive of the South London Business, said: "What better year can we have for businesses to raise their heads above the parapet and say, ‘I’m good'.

"In fact, I’m better than good, I’m the best in south London.’

"This is what the South London Business Awards do - they give those businesses an opportunity to show off to everybody else."

The awards have been organised in partnership with the South London Business and HSBC, with Your Local Guardian sponsoring the commitment to the community award.
