Temperatures in London are set to struggle to reach positive numbers this week as the Met Office issued weather warnings across the UK.
As commuters struggled to scrape ice from their cars this morning, the warning predicted a 90% chance that temperatures in the capital would not rise above an average of 0C across this week.
Meanwhile, other parts of the country faced a dip as low as -6C.
A Met Office forecaster said: "Temperature levels, even in London, are likely to fall to a mean of only around 0 Celsius for at least 48 hours.
"There is a 100% probability of severe cold weather between 10am on Monday and 10am on Friday in other parts of England.
"This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.
"Please refer to the national Cold Weather Plan and your trust's emergency plan for appropriate preventive action."
However, on a more positive note, he did predict milder conditions for the weekend.
"Milder conditions are likely to arrive during Saturday and Saturday night, with temperatures likely to rise above threshold values in all regions," he added.
