A mixed bag of sunny spells, frost and rain is expected to hit south London and Surrey this week.

Met Office forecasters are predicting average temperatures for Monday, with a frost on Tuesday morning followed by rain and stronger winds.

A forecaster said Monday would see sunny spells with a chance of light showers.

"Mainly dry with bright or sunny spells, as showers will be isolated, chiefly arriving across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire late morning to mid afternoon," he said.

"It will be breezy, with temperatures close to the seasonal average. Maximum temperature 9C."

Overnight and into Tuesday however, he predicted we could wake up to frosty conditions.

He said: "It will be generally dry, clear and with light winds, allowing a widespread slight frost to develop.

"Late tonight cloud will arrive from the west, and perhaps outbreaks of light rain to Hampshire. Minimum temperature -1C.

"Cloud and rain will spread east, after many places start dry and bright. The rain will turn persistent and occasionally heavy, then followed by lighter patchy rain in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 10C."
