The past and present successes of a Staines school are celebrated in a new book.
More than 300 past and present pupils, governers, staff and parents attended the launch of Staines Preparatory School – Past and Present, on October 4.
Author John Adamson was among guests at the school on launch day, taking questions from pupils and presented signed copies of the book to children whose parents had pre-ordered copies.
Headmaster, Peter Roberts, said: "A real sense of pride engulfed us all today. School should be about shared memories and experiences, as well as a place to achieve academically.
"I think John’s book has illustrated this perfectly."
The Book follows the development of the school from its foundation in 1935 with just eleven boys, to its present flourishing state with 330 boys and girls.
It also recounts the exciting lives of the school’s founder, Cyril Burges, a well-known local figure, and his wife Betty a county councillor. The book is on sale, priced at £9.99, available for purchase through the school website at www.stainesprep.co.uk or by phone on 01784 450909.
