Police are hunting a man seen running from an estate in Staines where a young man in his 20s was set on fire on Saturday night.
Surrey Police were told that after the assualt at about 11.20pm, in Templedene Avenue on the Royal estate, a slim man wearing dark clothing was seen running away down an alleyway leading from Templedene Avenue towards Berryscroft Road, Arnold Road and Elizabeth Avenue.
The victim, who is suffering with serious burn injuries, is still believed to be in a critical condition in East Grinstead Hospital.
A thorough forensic examination is taking place at the scene and officers are searching the nearby area for anything that could be related to the incident.
Surrey Police is appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious or who was in the area at the time of the incident to call them urgently on 0845 125 2222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
