Tourists have been striking their best Bradley Wiggins pose on the throne where the cycling hero was crowned Olympic champion.

Visitors from around the world have been flocking to Hampton Court Palace to get a taste of Olympic magic after Wiggins-mania hit the borough last week.

Wiggins - a well known mod and big Paul Weller fan - is among the cycling royalty in Team GB that has enjoyed unprecedented success at London 2012.

He won his seventh Olympic medal when he was crowned king of the time trial, which started and finished at Hampton Court Palace on Wednesday, August 1.

Alison Hughes, from Surbiton, came to pose on the throne with her seven-year-old daughter Amelia.

She said: “We are cycling fans so we were ecstatic.”

Mother-of-four Miranda Roussel travelled from Crawley to visit the palace with her family.

She said: “When I saw the throne I thought: ‘Is that really the one Bradley Wiggins sat on?’”

The palace said visitors will be able to pose on the throne until Monday, August 13.

A spokeswoman for Historic Royal Palaces said: “It’s proving very popular, there are queues of people all day long waiting to have their picture taken, people on bikes and people doing the Bradley Wiggins pose.”

The number of cyclists following the Olympic route has increased with the good weather, the BIG problem is they are trying to copy the speed of the Olympiads as well. This is especially apparent in Richmond Park, can somebody please tell the cyclists that the 20MPH per hour speed limit applies to them as well before somebody gets seriously hurt.
