Kew Village Market donates cash to good causes
12:10pm Wednesday 4th July 2012 in Richmond By Christine Fleming
A community project with heart has donated £1,000 to help provide school uniform aid and youth club equipment.
Kew Village Market gave the money to Darrell Road School and Kew’s youth club after collecting profits from the monthly markets to go to local causes.
Money will help ease the pressure of uniform costs for families on free school meals and mend the youth club’s air hockey table and restock its arts and crafts table Market spokesman Simon Fowler said: “We are very pleased to be supporting these organisations in this way.
“We are always looking to help local charities in any way. They are welcome to have stalls or raise money in other ways on market days, as well as apply for grants.”
So far this year Kew Village Market has already helped Kew Community Trust and the Out of School Trust. To find out about applying for a grant, visit kewvillagemarket.org.
The next market is on Sunday, July 1, from 10am to 2pm, in Station and Royal parades outside Kew Gardens station.
