A three-month-old baby girl was checked for smoke inhalation yesterday after an oven set alight in her family home.
The little girl and her parents were unharmed after the fire in Teddington, but were checked by London Ambulance Service as a precaution.
Twickenham firefighters were called to the flat in Plough Lane at 8.07pm after reports that an oven had set alight.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but from initial findings appears to have been the result of an electrical fault.
Watch manager Noel Hanson confirmed no one had been hurt in the fire but reminded residents of the importance of having a working smoke alarm.
He added: "We do provide a free service to fit smoke alarms to members of the public's homes.
"Call the home fire safety number on 0800 284428 to arrange an appointment."
