A teenager's pet chinchilla had to be saved by Twickenham firefighters last night after becoming lodged behind a toilet.
The animal had been stuck behind the upstairs toilet in its Park Road, Teddington, home for more than 30 hours before it was rescued.
Twickenham firefighters were called to assist the trapped pet at 10.20pm on Monday, February 13.
The entire upstairs toilet had to be removed in order to free the chinchilla from behind it.
Watch manager Noel Hanson said the animal appeared fine after its ordeal but confirmed it was taken to an emergency vet by its owners to be checked out.
He added: "Over the years we have got called to small animal rescues, as we do get quite a few."

but why is this a fire brigade matter?..
Plumber, RSPCA, vet? - maybe some of these alternatives would charge for their services, which is why the owner didn't call them.
Or maybe the fire brigade attend these minor incidents, as they are easily resolved and help with their performance metrics - payrises all round for 100% safe resolutions to all this years chinchilla incidents.! hoorah.
