Universtiy students helped supermarket customers to pack their shopping in a charity event to raise more than £1,000 for the Cystic Fibroris Trust.
Dr Robert Lake, a sports science lecturer at St Mary’s University, in Twickenham, organised the team of fundraisers to visit Tesco, in Mogden Lane, between 10am and 5pm on Saturday.
Dr Lake, who suffers from the disease, said: “They are not just students there shaking their tins, they are helping customers and staff as well.”
Dr Lake has taken part in charity events including marathons for the Cystic Fibroris Trust.
He said: “It’s something very close to my heart.”
