Born at top speed: Baby named 'Dash' after car birth

A baby who made a speedy entrance into the world has enjoyed his first Christmas.

When Helen Moody, 36, went into labour in the early hours of the morning, she jumped in the car with her husband Ray, 41, to make the 15-minute journey from their home in Railway Road, Teddington, to West Middlesex Hospital.

But at 50mph, and only 300 metres from the Isleworth hospital, the little tot decided he could wait no longer and was born in the passenger seat of the car in Twickenham Road.

Dad Ray Moody, 41, said: “We named him Dash, after the thing he bounced off as he shot into the world.

“He was all healthy and lovely, apart from a little Shake and Vac in his hair from landing in the footwell.

“When he came out there was just silence, apart from the sound of him crying.”

He revealed they had also considered Matt as a possible name for the baby, who was born on October 28, after the car interior that he landed on.

Dash – short for Dashiell – spent a slower-paced Christmas with his four-year-old brother Spike and family in the countryside.
