The curtain has come down once again on Richmond Literature Festival, with more than 2,900 tickets sold for 36 events across an action-packed three weeks.

In celebrating the 25th festival, the cultural event of the borough’s social calendar maintained its highest levels and attracted some of the big names from the literary world.

Authors, personalities and celebrities from the world of words held a range of fascinating workshops, talks, and events across the programme.

Highlights included Margaret Drabble discussing her latest book The Dark Flood Rises, acclaimed author Sebastian Barry on Days Without End and local author, historian and journalist Anne Sebba.

There were also workshops, performances and film screenings as part of the festival.

Richmond Council’s cabinet member for arts and culture, Councillor Meena Bond, said: “Another fantastic Richmond Literature Festival has sadly come to an end – with this year’s event being tremendously successful.

“It was a delight to welcome to Richmond so many leading names to the literary festival.

“The talks, workshops, and events were informative, entertaining and captivating across the board.

“I’m already looking forward to next year’s event – which I am sure will be another huge success.”
