Former FA chairman Greg Dyke, whose three-year term ended last month, has joined St Mary’s University, Twickenham, as a visiting professor.

He is set to work with the Schools of Sport, Health and Applied Science (SHAS) and the School of Arts and Humanities.

Mr Dyke said: “I have long been involved in both media and sport – two of the major subject areas covered at the University.

“As I live nearby I have known of St Mary’s for a long time and seen it expand over the years so I am very pleased to have been asked to be involved more directly in its future.”

Mr Dyke visited St Mary’s earlier this year on January 25, where he met some MA Sports Journalism students.

The students interviewed him on a variety of subjects, and he revealed to them that he would have voted for Cristiano Ronaldo in the Ballon d’Or.

He also told them that he considered George Best to be the greatest player of all time.

Clearly, they made a good impression as he’ll now be spending time with St Mary’s students on a more regular basis.
