Tony Arbour - Conservative

Councillor for Hampton Wick and former leader of Richmond Council Tony Arbour will be a familiar face to many in the borough.

Cllr Arbour was first elected as councillor in 1971 and is currently the cabinet member for community safety.

Among Cllr Arbour's key concerns are improving the environment and safety of Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston, cutting police bureaucracy and red tape and improving access to the river.

Cllr Arbour, who has represented the London Assembly seat since 2000, is a justice of the peace and according to his London Assembly biography his hobbies include “car-booting” and “ebaying.”

Andree Frieze – Green Party

Andree Frieze will be another familiar face for Richmond residents, having contested the Richmond Park seat in last year’s general election.

Ms Frieze, a freelance editor who has worked in publishing for 20 years, has been a Green for 30 years and campaigned on many issues in Richmond and North Kingston, where she lives with her husband and two sons.

Adam Buick – Socialist Party GB

Oxford University graduate Adam Buick, has been a member of the Socialist Party of Great Britain since the 1960s and is prominent speaker and writer about a moneyless and wageless society.

He is the all-time second most prolific contributor to the Socialist Standard and served as the party’s general secretary from 1993 to 1995.

Martin Whelton – Labour

Martin Whelton has served as cabinet member for both housing and education on Merton Council and is also deputy leader of the Labour Group on the London Fire Authority.

He has campaigned against plans to withdraw fire appliances in London and opposed the London Fire Service working with the Qatari government over human rights concerns.

Alan Craig – UKIP

Alan Craig, who stood as the Ukip candidate for Brent North in the 2015 general election, is a fervent Brexit supporter whose views over homosexuality and role of spokesperson for group “Gay Marriage No Thanks” have sparked controversy in the past.

Mr Craig, who converted to Christianity aged 30, attended Newcastle University and Manchester Business School before working as a chief executive in the manufacturing sector and being elected to Newham Council for Canning Town South in 2002.

Liberal Democrat Rosina Robson counts the housing crisis, opposing Heathrow expansion and fighting for cleaner air in the capital among her most important issues.

Ms Robson, who has lived in London for 15 years, has worked in both the public and private sectors and sees herself as an advocate for small business and the UK’s creative industries.
