A scheme that helps people continue to live in their communities and provides winter fuel grants will continue despite a reduction in funding.
The Local Assistance Scheme was run by the Government as part of the social fund until two years ago when it was transferred to local authorities with funding based on Department for Work and Pensions.
But despite the Government cutting Richmond Council's budget from £395,000 to £12,000, Councillor Geoffrey Samuel, deputy leader of the council, has pledged to continue with the scheme.
He said: "By adding to this ring-fenced money from our own budget, we can maintain support in principle for the next year.
"This is a council that cares for its vulnerable residents."
The council's fuel grants scheme gave money to 700 people last year.
