A little taste of Japan came to Grey Court School when students took part in a new project.
Delicious: Not a bad effort at all
Pupils took part in Make Sushi In School, a scheme designed to use sushi as a platform to address health eating, social eating and basic food preparation skills.
Year 8 pupils spent their food technology lesson learning how to make their own sushi and finding out about Japanese culture, including the etiquette of using chopsticks.
Tracy Coult, who runs the project, said: "With Japanese sushi chefs training for 10 years it is no surprise that there is a certain air of mystery surrounding sushi making and it is great to be able to teach children the basics so that they can enjoy creating healthy snacks with their friends and families.
"We start by dispelling the belief that sushi has to include fish. Sushi actually means seasoned rice and can be made with meat or vegetables too."
