An Indian restaurant in Hampton Wick that had its hygiene rating dramatically downgraded last year has returned to the top after a reinspection.
Machaan, in High Street, was given a major improvement necessary rating last August, but a reinspection on February 5 restored the old classification of four out of five.
Restaurant director Rajveer Kohli said the inspection last year was "an unfortunate incident" that took place while the restaurant was shut.
He said: "We take health and hygiene very seriously and it is critically important to our food.
"It also is reflected in the taste and freshness of our food and that is what we stand for."
A restaurant is not able to apply for a re-inspection for at least three months and Mr Kohli said he applied as soon as was possible to restore the rating the restaurant deserved.
He said: "We have always had a rating of four and above and after the second surprise inspection it is straight back to four."
