A fox browsed lot items at a Twickenham auction house on Sunday afternoon, leaving staff and customers perplexed.
The fantastic four-legged beast outfoxed staff at High Road Auctions by slyly making its way into the sale room and taking a stroll around the Heath Road shop.
Auctioneer David Holmes said the flame-furred creature walked in “as bold as brass” looking for food.
He said: “He went up and had a look around the window display and had a walk around the drum kit - he was probably looking for food but he didn’t look unwell.
“A lady from the hairdressers across the road went out and got him a tin of dog food and he later camped out at Alsford timber yard.
“He just seemed to be having a bit of a mooch around.”
It is not the first time an animal has courted publicity in Twickenham town centre - in July, a loose peahen was spotted wandering the streets.
Mr Holmes added: “It is a shame he didn't drop in last week when we had some taxidermy he might have been interested in.”
Fran Perrow posted on Twitter: “A fox walked into @highroadauction Twickenham today. Must've smelt the food from Justina's great cafe..”.
