A dad will run the Royal Parks Half Marathon barefoot in memory of his stillborn daughter.

Duncan Mallison, of Campbell Road, Twickenham, will take on the somewhat uncomfortable challenge to raise money for baby charity Tommy's next month.

The charity is close to the 39-year-old HR manager's heart after he and his wife, Helen, saw their baby girl, Amber, stillborn three years ago.

The couple now have two-year-old daughter, Darcie, and a baby boy due in the next couple of weeks.

Mr Mallison said: "I thought I would try to do something a bit different, that was the thinking behind it.

"We have done stuff before. I ran in the London Marathon three years ago for Tommy's and my wife organised a 24 hour sponsored read.

"I'm up to about eight miles now in training so just need to find that extra five."

Instead of playing with her big sister, Darcie makes Amber's photographs cups of tea and kisses her dad's locket goodnight.

Mr Mallison hopes to shed more light on Tommy's, which helped him and his wife throughout the trauma they experienced.

He said: "We found that what happened with Amber was quite a common occurrence.

"There's not a huge amount of research into that area and Tommy's does work in that area."

Mr Mallison has already raised £561 of his £1,000 target but hopes to raise even more.

He added: "The first year we did something, it raised £8,000 and the 24 hour read fetched another £4,000 so hopefully we can raise some more funds."
