What happens when a couple, who have been unhappily married almost 30 years, win a trip-of-a-lifetime to Paris?

John Godber’s charming play provides the answer as Al (Joe McGann) and Bet (Shobna Gulati) embark on the ferry to France.

Al, recently unemployed, takes a lot of convincing that he even wants to go with his wife but he gets there in the end.

Gulati, best known as Sunita Alahan in Coronation Street, delivers a quick-witted performance and portrays Bet as loveable and fun, in spite of her pretty bland life.

When Al sees what there is outside of his own street, the impact on their relationship is monumental.

Godber’s script is thoroughly enjoyable throughout while Gulati and McGann provide plenty of laughs - an all-round winner of a production.
