A Twickenham record label executive will be sentenced after admitting he stole almost £650,000 from Universal Music.

Duncan Schwier, of Clifden Road, pleaded guilty to conning the largest music corporation in the world with false invoices at Hammersmith Magistrates' Court.

He appeared in court on September 2, when he admitted the crime, which had taken place across more than 12 years.

The swindle came to light when Schwier was promoted and his successor, John Clifford, raised concerns over a paper trail, revealing multiple invoice payments to non-existent companies.

Schwier had been an employee at the multinational firm, based in Kensington, since 1984, the court heard.

The fraud amounted to £643.697.35, the court heard.

Universal Music is the biggest music company in the world and counts Eminem, Jennifer Lopez and U2 among its recording artists.

He was bailed to appear at Isleworth Crown Court for sentencing on September 30.
