A man has been charged with manslaughter after a 53-year-old man was hit by a van in Hampton on Sunday night.

Rostam Notarki, 52, of Beech Way in Twickenham, is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court this morning.

The man died after the collision near the Cardinal Wolsey pub in Hampton Court Road at about 7.25pm and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.33pm.

Police believe they know the identity of the man, but are awaiting formal identification.

Mr Notarki was also charged with perverting the course of justice while two other men, aged 19 and 49, have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The van driver, who stopped at the scene, was not arrested.

Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are appealing for information that may help establish how the man came to be in collision with the van.
