Students across the borough are celebrating this morning after collecting their A-level results.

It was a morning of relief for many students who found out their hard work had paid off and they were rewarded with places at top universities.

Lady Eleanor Holles School (LEHS) achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, with 98.83 per cent of all grades awarded A* to C.

For a fifth year running, more than 30 per cent of all grades were A*, with a further 43 per cent at A grade.

Student Ria Kanani secured a place at King's College London after achieving 3 A*'s in maths, biology and chemistry.

Ria, who lives in Hampton, said: "I'm feeling all the emotions right now; relief and excitement.

"I was just hoping to scrap three As so it was a huge relief when I saw my results on the Ucas website.

"I did really well."

Students Katie Lodge, from East Molesey, and Caroline Clarke, from Cobham, were all celebrating after achieving top grades.

Katie gained 2 A*'s in English and music and 2 A's in maths and physics, and was accepted into Cambridge University to study music.

Caroline achieved a clean sweep of A*'s in maths, physics, biology and chemistry and will also attend Cambridge University to study natural sciences.

Gillian Low, headmistress at LEHS, said: "These impressive results reflect the girls' commitment to their studies, as well as the dedication of the teaching staff.

"Our sixth formers make an incredible contribution throughout the school year to extra-curricular activities and the wider school community.

"We are very proud of their achievements and wish them every success in their future studies and careers."

Hampton School enjoyed a record breaking year for A* grades, with 183 of the top grades handed out to their students.

The top grades made up 32 per cent of the total grades awarded at the school, well above the national average of 8.3 per cent.

Headmaster Kevin Knibbs said: "I am delighted to learn of this very strong set of results and in particular the record number of A* grades awarded to Hamptonians this year.

"The excellent A-level and pre-U grades these young men have achieved are testament to their hard work and the unstinting commitment of our dedicated teachers."
