A 62-year-old dinner lady and grandmother has become Twickenham’s very own Twiggy, after being scouted in-store and chosen to star in TK Maxx’s latest campaign.

Olga Taylor, a semi-retired caterer, was shopping in Twickenham’s TK Maxx when she was approached about modelling for the retail giant, and before long was whisked off to Cape Town for a 10-day shoot.

Olga will feature in TK Maxx’s Me.By.Me campaign with seven other British shoppers. Despite having never modelled before, she has broken fashion stereotypes by posing in the new swimwear range. She said at first she did not take the campaign too seriously, but it had become one of the best experiences in her life.

She said: “I would never have dreamed in a million years that this could happen.

“This campaign has made me realise amazing things can still happen at an older age and life can still be really interesting.”

The campaign centres around the idea people are at their happiest and most confident when allowed to be their true selves.

The shoot challenged convention by allowing Olga and the other inexperienced models to improvise poses and choose their own outfits.

Deborah Dolce, from TK Maxx said: “We hope Me. By Me. will inspire everyone to keep an open mind, find something they love and express their own unique style.”

Olga’s addition to the bold campaign has certainly gone down well among followers of fashion.

SWFashion blogger, Shona Wallace, said: “Olga is a great example of ageless style, which is something we all ought to embrace. I think it is a great move for TK Maxx to select Olga as the face of their brand.”
