A festival of sport brought the Olympic spirit to supporters who have been inspired by the London games.

Kingston town centre came alive on Sunday with temporary sporting venues offering activities such as tennis, judo, cheerleading, rugby, table tennis.

The event, called Be a Sport, was part of Go Kingston’s cultural programme of events that celebrate this year’s Olympic and Paralympic games and aim to secure a sporting legacy.

The Active Kingston Team, sports clubs, leisure centres and national governing bodies for sport, organised the afternoon of activities for members of the public to try.

People of all ages and abilities took part in the free taster sessions held in Memorial Gardens, Eden Walk, Clarence Street and the historic market place, where British cycling hero Bradley Wiggins was cheered to victory in the men’s Olympic time trials.
