A woman believed to have been murdered in her Kingston flat has been named as Margaret Sheehy.

The 58-year-old, who was found by co-workers in the ground floor flat in Springfield Road, is understood to have been known by friends as Margot.

She worked for financial planners Inteliflo, in Drapers Court, Kingston, opposite the police station.

On the company website she said her background was in sales, marketing and business development.

It reads: “In my spare time I enjoy all the joys of living in Kingston and travelling to far off places whenever the chance arises.”

A colleague, who discovered Ms Sheehy's body at her Springfield Road flat, was too affected by the news to speak but said she it had been a “very stressful time” for everyone at the company.

A post mortem examination put the cause of death as asphyxiation.

According to the electoral role the Irish woman had lived alone in the flat since 2010.

Her next of kin have been informed but she has yet to be formally identified.

Officers had been struggling to contact her two children. Her son is believed to be abroad.
