  • "When I first heard about this lorry getting stuck, I wondered if sailing the concrete blocks up the Thames may have been a better option.

I'm sure that's how the footbridge between Bentalls and the car park was bought into Kingston"

Giant lorry finally freed in Kingston

Stuck Stuck

A giant lorry was finally unjammed last night after spending 24 hours stuck in Cambridge Road.

Traffic lights were removed allowing a police motorbike escort to accompany the 100 foot lorry to its destination at about 8pm.

Later two more lorries carrying 40m beams rolled through Kingston with no problems.

Lorry watcher @strnks on Twitter said of the second two lorries: "Went through so smoothly I only realised it was happening when a friend from New Malden text me to say two more were coming."

Between 20 and 30 more deliveries to the Skerne Road riverside hotel and flats development are expected over the next few months.
