Disabled bay objections on agenda at Chessington meeting

Residents of a cul-de-sac in Chessington are objecting to plans to put in a disabled parking bay for the family of a 12-year-old child.

An eight-signature petition has been handed in from Angus Close residents, who said there were not enough parking bays and suggested an alternative garage space nearby.

But two residents supporting the bay said the pavement near the garage could be unsafe.

Councillors will be asked to make a decision at Kingston’s south of the borough council next week.

They will also discuss a plan to build five new flats in Verona Drive, the extension of Castle Hill Primary School’s playground and an application from Cafe Leticia’s in North Parade to put three tables outside.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 15, at 7.30pm at Southborough School.

What a charming bunch these objectional Angus Close residents are. Typical reflection of the state of this country i.e look after number 1 and sod everyone else. Maybe they should try ditching their cars and get off their fat lazy backsides.

Just goes to show that the car rules the show. I would imagine that the 8 names on the petition relate to people in the following categories:
Over weight, both mother and father, 2 children who can't do anything wrong, who are both overweight. This family will use the car to go the short distance to the shops and to the school and although there is always 'somewhere' to park in or around the street, they like to park outside their home.

Wake up people.....its a parking space FFS. surely there are better things to get a petition set up about, and 8 names, come on........

Get a bike, or a scooter, or a smaller car, or get off your arses and walk.......

We are a family living in Angus Close and are disgusted by these comments.
Who do you think we are and I bet you don’t even know where our road is!
Your comments are rude and detrimental to families that live here.
Personally we didn’t even know about the request or whereabouts it will be situated.
But rather than judge us, why don’t you think about why some residents may resent such a bay, could be that for years we have had an abandoned vehicle in a parking bay which the police and council have shown no interest in removing. Perhaps if you lived here you would understand.

Guys, I apologise, sincerely.

Perhaps my comments should be directed to the 'news' paper.

Is this really news if only 8 people signed the petition. Surely there is a cat stuck up a tree somewhere that needs investigating.
