A disused tennis court which has been transformed into a new adventure playground opened in Tolworth at the weekend.
The Jubilee Way Playscape at the King George’s Recreation Ground, Hook Rise South, includes a skate bowl, zip wire and climbing equipment and has been designed by award winning designers Groundwork London who have tried to use sustainable materials throughout.
Within the space is equipment chosen by local young people, who helped develop the design proposals by taking part in design workshops and visiting other play spaces for inspiration.
The refurbishment was made possible by a £220,000 grant from the Big Lottery and funding from Toyota and the playground was opened on October 11 after three months work.
Councillor Vicki Harris from Kingston Council, said: “It was extremely well attended over the weekend and the finished look is absolutely incredible. It fits in so well with its surroundings in the park and I hope everyone will enjoy it.”
