Kingston: Car parks and schools affected by strike

Parking and five schools have been affected by the two-day strike by council workers in Kingston.

A Kingston Council spokeswoman said that although no schools have been closed as a result of the strike, up to 60 children may miss part of their school day today and tomorrow.

One secondary school - Tolworth Girls in Fullers Way North, Surbiton - has had to send six pupils home.

King Athelstan primary school in Villiers Road has closed its nursery for two days and Tolworth Infant school in School Lane has shut its Year 2 classes and extended services for the strike's duration.

Dysart and St Phillips special schools are also affected.

The spokeswoman also said some car parks have been closed as a result of the strike.

The Cattle Market car park's basement levels will be closed due to a lack of health and safety cover. The surface level car park area will run as normal.

The lifts in all multi-storey car parks will not be working.
