A car mowed down bollards and bicycle racks to crash next to Raynes Park Railway Station before being abandoned in the early hours of this morning.
Several confused commuters spotted the Ford Focus embedded on the verge leading up to the train tracks in Approach Road this morning, after it crashed shortly after 3am.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed police were called at 3.15am to a “damage only collision”.
He added: “The car had collided with bollards and a bicycle rack before coming to a stop on the embankment.
“Officers attended but there was no trace of a driver or any passengers.
“Enquiries into the collision continue. There have been no arrests.”
A spokesman for Merton police added that the crash had not impacted the railway track and has not interfered with the normal running of trains.
