Iconic giant taps, comic baths signs and plastic props from Chessington World of Adventures’ beloved Bubbleworks ride have been auctioned off – raising £14,000 for charity.

The ride’s closure earlier this month caused outcry amongst theme park lovers, with one distraught Bubbleworks’ lover even changing his name to the attraction’s signature character Professor Burp.

But some lucky fans have managed to lay their hands on some of the props, with a charity auction raising £14,632.

The giant taps fetched £1,252.52, a working bubble man £605 and bubblemen in a Jacuzzi £601.

The money raised has been donated to Merlin’s Magic Wand, a charity run by theme park operator Merlin.

Since opening in 1990 the ride completed over 15 million circuits and welcomed over 32 million people aboard the floating bathtubs.
