Plans to build a 10.5m phone mast outside a north Kingston estate have been rejected once again following complaints from outraged residents.

Vodafone submitted an application to build a phone mast in Park Road in July, with an application to build a 12.5m mast having been rejected more than a year ago.

Campaigners started a petition against the plans after the new application was submitted “just metres” from the previous spot.

The petition said the mast would “compromise child road safety, deface the residential area and be visually intrusive to the character of the area”.

Kingston Council rejected the application on Wednesday.
