A man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and dangerous driving after a car careered off a New Malden flyover and burst into flames.
Police were first called to the junction of Beverley Way with West Coombe Lane at 4.14am today to reports of the crash.
When officers arrived they found a car “ablaze” having crashed into nearby trees. Firefighters and paramedics also attended.
A man was taken to hospital for a check-up.
The road was closed while firefighters put out the flames, but was reopened this morning.
